The Faculty of Law, M. S. University, Baroda has been a premier law institute in Gujarat since the sixties. The varied academic talent of the faculty is capable to tackle the emerging legal trends. It offers various courses like LLB (3 years), LLM (Business Law), LLM (Criminal Law), Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation Practice, Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Practice and PhD. program.

Presently under the leadership of Dr.Syed Maswood, Faculty of Law has started ‘Baroda School of Legal Studies’ (BSLS), which shall impart Five Years Integrated Law Course. This is a course after 12th standard; which shall open a new and a novel career option for the students. Apart from the GNLU, Gandhinagar, this is the only University in Gujarat to offer this course.

Globalization, liberalization and the information technology revolution have had a profound impact on law and legal institutions - worldwide and in India. A rapidly growing global market in legal services and information has changed the structure of the legal profession in India as well. To answer this global need a new and totally innovative legal thinking is required. With this object in mind, faculty of law has given birth to “Baroda School of Legal Studies” to advance and disseminate learning and knowledge of law and to make law and legal process an efficient instrument of social development.

This course aims to chisel out bright and brilliant lawyers out of raw teenagers. Baroda School of Legal Studies shall be imparting Five Years Integrated Law Degree Course, which shall aim at developing a new vision for legal education in India. Baroda School of Legal Studies aspires to become a centre of excellence in the legal education map of the world.

BSLS- Courses

First LL.B.(General)

Graduates of university or any other statutory university recognized by this university with at least 45% marks in aggregate as a regular student, and candidate belonging to SC and ST category with at least 40% marks in aggregate as regular student, are eligible for apply for admission to the 1st LLB. Class (in case candidate secure 45.5% marks or more will be rounded off as 45% marks and in case of SC/ST candidate 39.5% or more marks will be rounded off to 40% marks).

Graduates of universities other than M.S. University of Baroda shall have to obtain a certificate of Eligibility from registrar (Academic Section), M.S. University of Baroda - 390 002.

Second LL.B ( General)

Candidate for admission to the Second LL.B (General) class must have passed the First LL.B. examination of other universities shall have to obtain a certificate of Eligibility from the registrar (Academic Section), M.S. University of Baroda - 390 002..

LL.B. (Special )

Candidates for admission to the LL.B. (Special) class must have passed the Second LL.B. (General) examination of this university or an examination recognized as equivalent there to of any statutory university of India

Candidates having passed the Second LL.B. examination of other universities shall have to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility from the registrar (Academic Section), M.S. University of Baroda - 390 002.

At the same time the university offers LLM, PG Diploma in Taxation Laws and Labour Laws

BSLS- Admissions

Admission Requirements for LLB: Graduate of this University or any other statutory university recognized by this University with at least 45% marks in aggregate as regular student, and candidate belonging to SC/ST category with atleast 40% makes in aggregate as regular student, are eligible to apply for admissions to the First LLB class. Admissions will be on the basis of merits.

Admissions to LLM:

Graduated in law of this University - LLB (General) or LLB (Special) or those who have passed an examination recognized to be equivalent thereto are eligible to apply for admission to the Master of law Part I. The duration of this course is of two years. Admissions will be on the basis of merits.

Admissions to Post Graduate Diploma in Taxation Laws and Practice:

Graduate of this University or any other statutory university recognized by this University with atleast 40% marks in aggregate as regular students are eligible to apply for admission to this course. The duration of this course is of one year. Admissions will be on the basis of merits.

Admissions to Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Laws and Practice:

Graduate of this University or any other statutory university recognized by this University with atleast 40% marks in aggregate as regular students are eligible to apply for admission to this course. The duration of this course is of one year. Admissions will be on the basis of merits.

BSLS- Infrastructure

Students activities involve active participations in moot courts, lawyering practices, debates and various quiz events too. Students are also actively involved in various sports activities at Faculty level and University level. As a part of training programme students are suppose to attend the court room trials and also to participate in Free Legal Aid Clinic at Faclty.

Free medical aid is available to University students at University Health centre. Students can also enjoy swimming at gym facility.

Faculty is well equipped with library and internet facility. Further Faculty combines theory and practice through its in-house free legal services to needy individuals.
